Client: Redrow Homes (South Wales) Ltd

Description: Refurbishment  of 18th century hospital into 63 aprtments, including an extension of 7 townhouses

Role: Pre-Contract Cost Consultants

Derelict for many years and listed Grade II, this refurbishment presented even greater demands than most.  Our focus was on reaching an accurate estimate of the cost of the works at an early stage, culminating in a detailed cost plan,  From this sound footing the design of the scheme was then evaluated and developed before commencing procurement.  Subsequent tasks included:

 

  • familirising ourselves with the client's existing cost control procedures
  • agreeing the format of the enquiries (trade BQs, in this instance)
  • hosting pre-let meetings involving the Site Manager and the client's post-contract surveyor
  • execution of orders before being handed back to the site team after a detailed de-briefing meeting

 

The completed scheme has revitalised an important historic building, providing an exclusive development at the foot of the Black Mountains.
